Top 5 Stunning & Epic Washington Elopement Locations

Mount Rainier National Park

Why Mount Rainier?

Mount Rainier is the ultimate backdrop for adventurous couples! Towering over the landscape at 14,410 feet, this iconic national park is home to lush forests, rushing waterfalls, and meadows bursting with wildflowers. Whether you want a stunning viewpoint at Sunrise, a peaceful lakeside ceremony at Tipsoo Lake, or an intimate forest setting near Paradise, there’s no shortage of gorgeous spots to tie the knot. Plus, if you’re up for an adventure, there are countless hiking trails leading to secluded, picture-perfect locations!

Do You Need a Permit?

Yes! A special use permit is required for elopements in the park, costing around $60. Be sure to apply at least a month in advance, and if you’re bringing a photographer, they may need a separate permit as well!

What Time of Year is Best?

  • Spring (March-May): Spring brings the return of lush greenery and powerful waterfalls, but higher elevation locations remain snow-covered. Late spring is perfect for lower elevation areas!
  • Summer (June-August): This is peak season! Wildflowers are in full bloom, trails are accessible, and the weather is warm. However, crowds are at their highest, so consider a sunrise or weekday ceremony.
  • Fall (September-November): The park quiets down, and golden fall colors make for a stunning backdrop. Snow may begin to fall by late October, especially at higher elevations.
  • Winter (December-February): A true winter wonderland! If you love snow, this is a magical time to elope. Just be prepared for road closures and chilly temperatures.

Closest Airport

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is about a 2-hour drive away.

How Busy Will It Be?

Summer weekends are packed, especially at popular spots like Paradise and Sunrise. Opt for a sunrise elopement or a weekday to avoid crowds!
