Catryce and Reese’s engagement session was a dream come true! We shot in the best engagement photo location, Ruby Beach located in the heart of the Olympic National Park. Ruby Beach is truly a sight to behold. With its rugged coastline, towering sea stacks, and driftwood-strewn shores, it’s an outdoor photographer’s paradise! And if you’re a fan of the Twilight Saga like me, you’ll recognize this mystical landscape as the backdrop for Bella and Edward’s supernatural love story.

But let’s get back to our lovely couple, Catryce and Reese! They were absolutely stunning against the wild beauty of Ruby Beach. The contrast of their joyous smiles against the moody Pacific Northwest backdrop was just perfect. Photographing at Ruby Beach requires some planning. You’ll need a permit, which can be obtained from the Olympic National Park’s office! The best times to shoot are sunrise and sunset when the light paints the sky in beautiful shades of pink, orange, and gold. The crowds can be unpredictable, so I recommend weekday shoots if possible!
We traveled up the coast towards Forks and La Push Beach, another iconic location from the Twilight Saga! The crashing waves added an element of drama to Catryce and Reese’s photos that we just couldn’t get enough of. If you are planning to do your engagement session at Ruby Beach, it’s all about embracing the elements. The wind, and the ocean – they’re all part of the beauty of this place. So don’t be afraid to let your hair get a little messy, or your clothes a little wet. The best photos are often the ones where you’re having a good time, just like Catryce and Reese were!
